The theme song, "Writing's on the Wall", received generally mixed reviews, particularly compared with the previous theme nevertheless, it won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and the corresponding Golden Globe. Spectre received mixed reviews upon its release although criticised for its length, lack of screen time for new characters, and writing, it received praise for its action sequences and cinematography. It became the second James Bond film to be screened in IMAX venues after Skyfall, although it was not filmed with IMAX cameras. It was released in the United States on 6 November 2015. Spectre was released on 26 October 2015 in the United Kingdom on the same night as the world premiere at the Royal Albert Hall in London, followed by a worldwide release. It was directed by Sam Mendes as his second James Bond film following Skyfall, and was written by John Logan, Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and Jez Butterworth. It features Daniel Craig in his fourth performance as James Bond, and Christoph Waltz as Ernst Stavro Blofeld, with the film marking the character's re-introduction into the series. The latest novel is Trigger Mortis by Anthony Horowitz, published in September 2015. Since Fleming's death in 1964, eight other authors have written authorised Bond novels or novelizations: Kingsley Amis, Christopher Wood, John Gardner, Raymond Benson, Sebastian Faulks, Jeffery Deaver, William Boyd and Anthony Horowitz. The James Bond series focuses on a fictional British Secret Service agent created in 1953 by writer Ian Fleming, who featured him in twelve novels and two short-story collections.
